Liam Doran Dominates In Penultimate RallycrossRX Weekend In Austria

This weekend saw blazing sunshine grace the rolling fields of Greinbach, Austria with screaming engines and billows of smoke completing the picture that was the penultimate FIA RallycrossRX round of 2013.
The LD Motorsports team arrived on site ready to continue their streak of recent successes. Liam Doran started off the weekend proving what his competitors are really up against when taking on his Citroen DS3, easily winning both heats on Saturday, ending the day in the strongest possible position.
Continuing to dominate on Sunday with the fastest time in warm-up, Doran placed second in heat 3 and after some nail-bitingly tight racing, he won his 4th.
Displaying some racing like never before this season, Doran went on to smoothly win the semis, leaving his competitors far back in the dust on a clear run over the finish line - even though he jokered on his fifth lap.
The final saw Liam show the same determined driving, going first into the first turn, earning him the Monster Energy supercharge award.  It all looked as if Doran was going to finish his weekend of dominating the European RallycrossRX tour by cruising home in the lead, until his Citroen DS3 caught on fire, leaving him to be pulled off the track.
Having finished this promising race weekend in 5th position, Liam focused on the obvious successes of the weekend - his qualifying first and taking home the most championship points from the event, along with Monster Energy's Supercharge Rhino.
Liam said: "It was making up to be a great weekend. Probably the best yet. I won all my heats, qualified first, won my semi and started the final on pole. The final was even looking promising until I caught fire.
"It's a shame but at least I get to take my third Monster Energy supercharge award home."
