LD Motorsports team succeeds at final FIA RallycrossRX round in Buxtehude, Germany

Last weekend’s finale of the 2013 FIA RallycrossRX season will surely go down as one of the most suspense-packed events to date - ending with both LD Motorsports athletes on the podium, taking home the silver and the bronze.

Emotions were running high at sun-baked Estering, Germany, as Monster Energy teammates Liam Doran and Andreas Bakkerud battled through some mixed heat results to both reach the semi-finals.

Having won his first and third heat, Liam qualified 3rd for the semi-finals and delivered a nail-bitingly close race to leave everyone full of suspense for the final. Finishing in 2nd, Liam was set to give it his all in the evening sunshine as hoards of screaming petrol heads witnessed a season finale to remember.

Having also qualified for the final, Bakkerud lined up next to his English teammate on the second row, and both would prove their driving skills and matching thirst for success over the ensuing laps.

However, after some aggressive racing and several drop-outs along the way, the race was red-flagged after four laps due to another competitor’s car catching fire, ending the final with Andreas in second and Liam in third place.

Liam said: “Emotions were certainly running high this weekend, but I’m happy with the LD Motorsports team leaving this year’s Rallycross season finale with two spots on the podium. Taking home a silver and bronze at Estering is awesome, and looking back on this season, we have a lot to celebrate and a lot to be excited about for next year - it’s definitely a great feeling.”
